Hi Gary,

Fished today down by the island. I had bream of 8lb 5oz. 8lb 4oz. 8lb and 7lb 5oz. All at 80 yards on wafters. I lost 2. Nearly got a double figure pike out only to get bit off at the net. It took my wafter on the drop. Dad blanked. There were around 8 fishing in the bay area but I don’t know how they got on.

Mark.

A DAY AT SUTTON BINGHAM

I had a super day recently at the reservoir. I fly fish there once in a while so no surprises checking in etc.  I had opted for peg 4 and had fish from the off on sweetcorn – mostly palm sized rudd with several of around 10 – 12 ounces.  I had a few roach on bread flake. A change to small side-hooked boilies gave me six common carp between one and three pounds – hard fighters on light waggler tackle.  There was one member to my left another I could see over on peg 6 or 7 and on the far bank were two anglers so it was far from full up.  Compared to my trout days where the water was up to the grass the level now is way down revealing extensive mud and stoney beaches.  An unhooking mat is a necessity as the beach is not fish friendly.  I placed mine right in front of my chair so any fish that slipped from my hand had a soft landing.

All in all a really pleasant day.

Kind regards

David Redwood
