Members Catch Reports 2024

Friday 22nd March 2024

Hi There,

Fished swims 9 and 10 today. I had 8 Bream to 10lb 10oz plus a 6lb 12ozTench. My Dad Jim had 9 Bream to 9lb 12oz.

It was a great day’s fishing, we’ve had bigger bream catches from the lake but never so many big fish in one session and I finally got my first double figure Bream that I’d been after for years. Dad equalled his Sherborne PB as well.

Something I forgot to mention on my previous email, most of our Bream today were over 8lb,

Mark Thomas

Hi Gary

First report is for last Saturday and then again for today

30-3-24

Fished Down the islands as the water level was above average and coloured

Managed to catch 12 bream on the feeder, all to worm or maggots.

The fish ranged from 10Lb-11oz to 5Lb-1oz for a total of 87Lb-14oz

3-4-24

Today i fished down the island again as the water level was even higher and more coloured with a strong northwesterly wind, which made accuracy difficult but

Managed 9 bream for 69Lb-14oz, biggest being 10Lb-4oz, with another at 9Lb-15oz.

First session since my carp sessions in spring. Fancied a session targeting big roach. Looking at the wind I fancied fishing just off the back of the wind in the 40s fishing to a spot I had found in the winter/ spring. Had to break out the 13ft feeder and use 70g feeder to get distance accurately in the wind to the clipped up spot which I trickled in some bait the night before. Almost a bite a chuck from the off, most of which required the net, nothing really big but biggest a very respectable size of around 1lb 8oz , with the average stamp of the rest around 10oz to the 1lb mark. Few hybrids and skimmers thrown in the mix as well. Hands smelling like an Indian takeaway I called it a day

Wed 21.8.2024

A good day on the silvers and a bonus carp myself Geoff and Chris

Gary 12lb of silvers + 6lb.3oz carp
Chris 16lb of silvers
Geoff 12lb of silvers
Total 46lb.3oz
All in all a pleasant day and a few hours fishing with friends

Hi Gary
I had my first visit to the Yeo at Ilchester the other day and was very impressed with this stretch of river.  I’m not so agile (I’m 77 y.o.) these days so I didn’t attempt to get down to some of the swims.  I walked the whole stretch then tried three swims on my way back.  Running a float through with bread flake produced a single chub (I expected more) and a dozen or more good roach of around 4 to 6 ounces and they were all in tip-top condition.

Kind regards
David

Hi Gary,

I know you said you wanted some catch reports, so here goes.
Got out for my second pike session of the season today. The first being a miserable blank on 1st October.
Fished the far side and had a 6lb pike on the lures. I lost a bigger fish that threw the hooks just as I was getting my net ready. I estimate it was a mid to low double.
Both pike really hit the lures hard and scrapped really well.
That was it for the fishing but I did see an Otter and a Kingfisher  so that made the trip worthwhile anyway.
