YSAA NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 2026
Dear Member
Hope you are keeping safe and well and fishing as much as possible, the weather is still making the news and we need more rain for our rivers, lakes and SB reservoir despite the storms we have had, the lake is still low and water is still being taken, SB is still just over 30% full and fishing has been suspended until further notice, fishing on our rivers and lake over the last month have been pretty amazing despite the low rainfall and water levels
LAKE NEWS
As I mentioned the lake is producing some good weights with well over 20lb pleasure nets and over 30lb match weights a few of our members have reported some quality catches, Roy had an eel of 3lb10oz feeder fishing with pellet, Chris had Roach to 1lb 10oz, only yesterday Geoff had 250 Silvers on the whip and even myself had a 6lb Tench on a whip, a few nice Bream have been caught and we are catching lots of small Carp all over the lake, long may it continue, if anyone has any information regarding a rumour that a 47lb Mirror Carp has been caught could you let me know as myself and committee are not aware of this
RIVER NEWS
Our rivers are fishing reasonably well considering there is still quite a bit of weed but this will die back soon and then a good flush through is needed, plenty of silvers at Mudford and Some nice Perch at Ilchester and our SLAC water, the main drain at Long Load is producing some good quality catches with Roach, Bream, Tench and Carp, a few reports from there by our members said they had a fantastic days fishing on the river
BRIAN’S TOP TIP
Our rivers should start to produce some nice Chub over the next few months so try fishing bread flake on the float and tip and liquidised bread or lob worms
MATCH NEWS
We have been seeing 30lb match weights on the lake and over 40lb at SB before it closed due to low water levels, our last points match of this year was held at NP and Rich Fripp came out on top with two nice Bream a Nice Perch and bits for 11.07, he also lost a double figure Pike at the net
YSAA would like to congratulate Richard on winning the 2026 points matches
