RIVER YEO ILCHESTER
RIVER YEO ILCHESTER
Fished a short session on our new river section again today and chosen swim was one I used to fish as a boy growing up in Ilchester so I knew it would hold fish, the target species were chub and baits were maggot, worm and bread, tactics were to fish under the tree on the far bank with a Diawa 11ft medium feeder rod a small bomb with bread flake, worm or a bunch of red maggots as hook bait,
It was a bite a chuck but not from chub, lots of small roach 2-6oz and they were stripping the hook bait in minutes, the rod tip was jumping around all over the place, the last time I fished this swim I had 3 nice chub of 2-3lb and only a few roach. Come the end of the session I had in the region of 20 – 30 fish so a few pound in weight, travel light and use a roaming approach and you won’t go far wrong, please make sure you have your license on you and park in the car park on Lymington road.
Many thanks
Kind regards
Gary
