YSAA NEWSLETTER FEBRUARY 2025

Ysaa Newsletter February 2025

Dear Member
Hope all is well and you have had a good New Year and have been enjoying your fishing

NEWS
The committee over the last month have been sorting out their action plan for this year and getting ready for our  AGM, we have many projects in the pipe line which we hope will improve our club even more so lots to look forward to, one especially is the SCCF on May 26th, personally I can’t wait as it is a brilliant day meeting lots of different people, promoting the club and introducing youngsters into fishing.

AGM
This year’s AGM will be held at Johnson Park Sports And Social Club Coronation Ave Yeovil BA21 3DX on the 11th of February at 8pm in the hall, if anyone has a proposal please send it to me before the 5th February, we will be also proposing to update our constitution as it is very dated, re-election of committee plus making our club treasurer a full voting member, new roles and positions on the committee and an action plan for this year are just some of the things we will cover, all members will be offered a free drink on arrival and a light buffet at the end of the evening, if you are planning to attend could you please let me know as we would like some idea of numbers, my email address is Secretary@ysaa-online.co.uk. Our points match presentations will be taking place as well and it is our intention to make the evening a social event, for those of you that will be attending please wait in the bar and we will call you in when we are ready

LAKE TENCH/CRUCIANS
Wednesday 22nd January saw our 2nd and final delivery of Tench for now from Priory fisheries and another 400 were put into the lake and yet again they were in pristine condition, many thanks to Geoff and Andy for assisting Tom with the stocking, Our Crucians that we ordered have been delayed and will be arriving at the beginning of March.

LAKE NEWS
As we all know the lake can be so frustrating, one day you are catching Bream, Carp and Tench and the next you don’t get a bite and that’s what it’s like at the moment, we are seeing some nice bream coming out as well as Carp and Tench but no silvers, it really does make you wonder where they go because we know there are thousands of Rudd and Roach in the lake, most of the fish being caught are falling to feeder and maggot tactics with the islands and lawns the favoured areas of the lake, if anyone has had any silvers we would love to know, I would also like to thank Andy Brine for the new notice board and Geoff for repairing the platform on Peg 17.

RIVERS
Our river section at Ilchester has been fishing really well with Chub, Roach, Dace, Perch, Bream and pike being caught, see the post on our website. Paul our river secretary has been out mapping the river bank ready for us to put in permanent Pegs, we will also be erecting EA signs on our waters in the very near future, unfortunately I have not had any reports from Long Load or our SLAC waters but hopefully they are fishing well. The end of January saw two big storms and unfortunately that  put paid to the fishing as the rivers are now in the fields

COMMITTEE
One of our long serving members Richard Patman has stood down after I believe 35 years being a member and 20 years on the committee, the club would like to say a big thank you to Richard for all his hard work and commitment for many years and we wish him all the best.

That’s all for now and hopefully see as many of you as possible at our AGM
Kind regards Gary
